Following her impressive semi-final run at Wimbledon earlier this month, Johanna Konta has now set her sights on the upcoming US Open tournament. Konta’s Wimbledon performance may have been enough to win the hearts of the British public, but winning a Grand Slam title could spell an incredibly bright future for the 26-year-old.
Wimbledon 2017 was something of a rollercoaster ride for British tennis star Johanna Konta. Before the tournament began, Konta was a relative unknown to the average tennis fan, yet two weeks on the World No 7 has become one of the most prominent names in the sport.
There’s no denying that Venus Williams deserved her place in the Wimbledon final, but many believe that hard court tennis is where Johanna Konta’s best game resides.
Tim Henman said: “I think hard courts are probably her best surface. “She won in Miami which is their next biggest tournament outside of a major, so she’s beaten a lot of the best players in the world and she had a great run to the semis at Wimbledon.”
“You’d like to think that in the next few years she can be in the finals of a slam and hopefully win one.”
