Back in the day Steve Nash was an eight-time NBA All-Star and a seven-time All-NBA selection. He was a feared point guard and was drafted by the Phoenix Suns as a No. 15 overall pick in round 1 of the 1996 NBA Draft.

He is now retired and never won a championship ring, that is until now. Nash received his ring in the post from the Golden State Warriors but something about it doesn’t feel right and via his You Tube channel, Nash explained how he felt about finally getting his hands on the one thing that evaded him during his career.

Nash said: “It’s pretty weird after playing for 18 years, like fighting every day trying to win a ring and then winning a ring as a consultant,” adding: “It’s crazy. I don’t know, it doesn’t seem right in a way.”

Talking about the Golden State Warriors Nash said: “I’m proud to be a part of the organization,” and added: “I’m really proud of everyone involved — players, coaches, staff, everyone. But when you’re a player, I don’t know, you’re a player. I guess it’s different if you became the head coach … But [I’m] pretty lucky to be a part of that group and enjoying the ride and all the small contributions I can make are rewarding. But it’s just not the same when you’re not playing.”

If ever a player deserved a ring as a player it was Steve Nash. Now at the ripe old age of 43, Nash was the recipient of two MVP awards ah he also made it on to eight All-Star teams. In his 18 years in the NBA as a player Nash was never able to advance any further than the Conference Finals, but as of last year he joined staff at Golden State as a part-time player development consultant, a position that Nash still has by the way, and was of course, working with last year’s championship-winning team team, hence the championship ring.

It is also understood that Nash played a big part in the Golden State Warriors acquiring superstar Kevin Durant, obviously that trade helped the team in their quest for the championship, but even with that on Nash’s resume, you can’t help but feel that he’d have much preferred to have gotten his ring by playing of the court.
