Rory McIlroy was full of praise for his new caddie Harry Diamond, following a positive performance at last weeks WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone. The 28-year-old recently parted ways with former caddie JP Fitzgerald after a 9-year relationship.
Last week Rory McIlroy revealed that new caddie Harry Diamond would partner him at both the Bridgestone Invitational and the upcoming PGA Championship. McIlroy eventually finished in T5 at Firestone with an impressive -7, nine shots adrift from winner Hideki Matsuyama.
McIlroy attributed his recent turn around in form to new caddie Harry Diamond, explaining: “Harry was good, and he encouraged me when I needed it,”
“We both did yardages and we didn’t really make any mistakes out there. He did what was expected of him, so I guess you can’t not give him an A.”
The upcoming PGA championship is will take place between 7-13 August at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina.
