It appears that LeBron James is branching out. The NBA superstar’ production company is said to be developing a comedy series for HBO. The project will be based on a subject he is very familiar with, a show centered around the “insane and obsessive world of sneaker culture,” says Deadline.com.
Cable giants HBO have given ‘SpringHill Entertainment’ the green light to develop the half-hour, single-camera comedy. The production company headed by James and business partner Maverick Carter, are yet to name the show which is being referred to as “Sneaker Store Project.”
It has been reported that the show will be based around the day to day goings-on at a Los Angeles sneaker shop run by two best friends. Made at the Warner Bros. TV studio, the show is part of multi-year deal ‘SpringHill’ has with Warner Bros and Lebron James and Maverick Carter are listed as two of the projects executive producers.
Hollywood is no stranger to James, he has been making considerable inroads over the past several years. He is working on a sitcom for NBC and last year he sold his production company’s first scripted series, a sports medicine drama, that will also air on NBC.
