Everton are reported to have agreed to sign Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru from Belgian club KAS Eurpen. The 20-year-old, who scored an impressive 22 goals in last season’s campaign, will become Everton’s third major signing, following Davy Klaassen and Jordan Pickford.
They say the key a successful transfer period is to get your deals done early, and Everton are beginning to look like the best prepared club going into the new season. The Toffee’s latest bit of business puts them of the verge of landing three top players in just under a fortnight, and you’ve got to hand it to the club for putting their faith in Ronald Koeman.
Henry Onyekuru is one of the Belgian league’s top strikers, and Everton are rumoured to have triggered the £6.8 million release clause in his contract. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait another year before they get the chance to see the Nigerian in action, as he may be sent out on loan to Anderlecht due to issues with his UK work permit.
Whether Everton will fork out for a long term replacement for restless forward Romelu Lukaku remains to be seen.
