The once unstoppable Matt Harvey failed to turn up in 2017 and it now looks as if his next chance to shine could be with another team.
The Mets organization has let it be known that they are officially shopping Harvey to other teams. The once explosive right handed pitcher failed to reignite his 2015 form and it’s feared that the surgery to his right arm might have effected the pitcher more than the team first thought. In fact, this last season was his worst, finishing with a 6.70 ERA, the worst in his career.
The Mets have one of the worst farm systems in the league and are trying to exchange Harvey for a reliever and have apparently reached out to two teams as of now, and as they look to rebuild have said, when it comes to trades, no one was of the table except for their aces, Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard.
The last few year have been troublesome for Harvey, between his injuries, personal life and the fact that he failed to turn up for a game for the team in May it has been hinted that for both parties involved, a change of scenery may be the right thing.
Harvey will be a free agent in 2019 and the Mets have shown little indication they are going to offer him a new deal. All this shows that maybe the Mets are ready to walk away from the once unstoppable superstar.
