Golfer Jon Rahm is hoping that his current spike in form can lead to success at the upcoming Open Championship. Rahm bagged his second PGA Tour victory of the year at last weekend’s Irish Open, and the Spaniard seems to have all the makings of a future star.
There are plenty of contenders for this years Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, and you’d have to say that 22-year-old Jon Rahm is right there amongst them. Rahm won his first ranking tournament back in January, when he impressed at the Farmers Insurance Open, but it was at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open that the Spaniard really showed what he’s capable of.
Rahm finished the weekend with a tournament-record 24 under par, and the youngster is already focussed on his next big challenge. Rahm said of his victory: “It proves to me I can perform properly on a links golf course and that’s what I’ve got to take to The Open,” “I know now that I have what it takes.”
“I know I can read the putts right, I know I can interpret the wind and I can hit the shots and I can manage myself around the golf course properly enough to have a chance to win The Open.”
