Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is just days away from entering this years training camp, and NFL experts believe that this could be the most important summer of the 28-year-old’s career.
Since becoming the 2015 NFL MVP, Cam Newton has experienced plenty of ups and downs. The Atlanta native suffered a huge set back earlier this year, when he was forced to undergo surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff on his throwing shoulder. Despite this, Newton looks to be in superb shape going into the new season, and has claimed to be the leanest he has ever been.
Statistically, the 2016/17 season was the worst of Newton’s career, and that’s why this summer’s training camp could prove to be hugely important for the Panthers star. Newton recently suggested that he will attempt to develop his game over the coming weeks. He told the Panther’s website “my job is not necessarily to always be the playmaker.”
Newton will get his first taste of pre-season action on Wednesday night at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
